I've turned up the heat on this album. It's more energetic than my first, while still offering space for beauty and quiet eloquence - it's a full meal! I remain committed to strong melodies, fluid chops, and richly textured arrangements, and am joined by some fantastic musicians who really bring the music alive: Eric Crystal on sax, David Rokeach on drums, Viviana Guzman and Carol Alban on flutes, James Robinson on acoustic guitar, Ross Wilson on trumpet & trombone, and Tim Bolling on percussion. The CD is also available from: CdBaby & Amazon
Radio promotion for Afterplay (to new age and world music stations) begins Nov. 1st. Radio promotion to contemporary and smooth jazz stations begins Jan. 1st.

It's been a while, I know... What have I been doing?
New Album update
In July I returned to the studio to record tracks with percussionist, Tim Bolling. This month I'm working with mixing engineer, Gary Mankin, to bring the production to a new level of excellence.
If you'd like to hear a preview of the album, there's a montage of 30-second samples from every tune on the album posted at: www.smoothjazzpiano.com
Solo Piano Album update
Also... I recently finished composing music for the solo piano album I plan to release next year. This means the sheet music will be available at the same time the CD is released. Next month look for 3 preview pieces from the solo album on Pianopodcasts.net

CD Release by Alexander Orchestra

|
I'm very proud to appear on the debut CD by Alexander Orchestra, Opus Everlasting. Violinist Alex Sneicki has created some memorably melodic and richly-textured music. The style could be described as Classical Crossover / World-Music. My piano playing is featured in 7 tracks. I very much enjoyed the magical synergy of our work together. Among my favorite tracks are: "One Last Look" and "Ocean Song".
Please... take a LISTEN & SUPPORT independent music.

CD Review of Pools of Light - SmoothJazz.com
Here's an excerpt from the review:
"...POOLS OF LIGHT is a lush, sparkling journey into a beautiful world of elegant melodies and brilliant artistry. The music rises and falls in powerful, yet gentle, waves of emotion... a totally captivating collection of original compositions that range from delicate, heartfelt solo piano ("Home At Last" and "Speak Your Heart") to ensemble performances that are full of dynamic tonal color and intricacies. My favorites include the breezy "Open Sky," the engaging, jazzy "Cool Blue," and the equally jazzy and tasty "When the Stars Align." ... he translates complex emotions into engaging musical experiences that both captivate and inspire. I highly recommend Brian Kelly's POOLS OF LIGHT as a collection of music that I am confident will find a permanent place in the "most-played" section of your music library!" Read the entire review.

Video added to BrianKelly.com - VIDEO REMOVED
...of me playing "Cool Blue" (track 3 from Pools of Light) at Borders Books & Music in Valencia, CA on Mar. 11, 2005. It captures all of the "ambience" of the venue: the sound of the cappuccino machine, people talking in the background, people walking in the foreground... I'm doing my best to tune it all out. It takes a few minutes to download, so please be patient. [Thanks to David Kobrin for shooting the video.]
